Join us at Washoe Lake State Park for the Outdoor Skills Training for
Volunteers. The training will guide you through the steps of planning
an outdoor or overnight adventure for Girl Scouts' sleeping tents. You
will also learn what gear is necessary for a trip, as well as how to
set up and care for a tent. Additionally, there will be opportunities
to discover the fun in teaching knots, basic wilderness first aid, map
reading, and other outdoor activities.
Discover several fun
methods of outdoor cooking you can share with your girls. You will
learn essential outdoor cooking skills, including fire-building
techniques, charcoal and camp stove cooking, and outdoor dishwashing
and sanitation methods as outlined in the safety activity checkpoints.
You will learn about safe food handling, sanitation, and accommodating
allergies and dietary practices, so you can teach these outdoor
cooking methods to your girls.Additionally, we will cover keeping your
campsite bear-safe and packing in and out.
Along the way, learn
some Girl Scout traditions with skits, songs, and more.
With
this training, you will be qualified to take your girls camping!
